Southwick Primary Community School opened to pupils on Tuesday 24 February 2009. In the afternoon over one hundred parents were taken on conducted tours of the school. We received our third full International School Award (ISA) in London in October 2009. Click on the International School Award 2009 button on the left to view our portfolio.
Southwick Primary is situated in an inner-city area of north Sunderland, close to the River Wear. We have very close working relationships with parents and the local community. Our school has received many awards. The logos under the photograph of our school above, are from left to right: Sport England Activemark Gold British Council International School Award The Basic Skills Agency Quality Mark School Achievement Award Healthy School Gold Award We also have the Gold Smoke-Free Award. Not far from our school is St Peter's Church, where Venerable Bede lived before going to St Paul's Curch in Jarrow. The two sites have been jointly nominated as a World Heritage Site. Our School Council for 2009-10 has its first meeting on 23 September. Details of their activities will posted on this website.

Each year our Endeavour Award, is presented to a Year 6 pupil showing the qualities of endeavour & determination. This award is in memory of our ex-pupil Michael Tench, who died on duty in Iraq. Read a newspaper article about the award by clicking on the Word document below.

Connecting Classrooms with Syria. We are very proud to announce an exciting new international project with schools in Syria. Our school, together with Grange Park Primary School, Willow Fields Community Primary School & Red House Academy, are in a cluster, which will be working on this British Council funded project with six schools in Damascus & Homs.
