Official Opening 22 May 2009

On 22 May 2009 our new school was officially opened by Niall Quinn, Chairman of Sunderland AFC. In the audience were our Governing Body, members of our School Council, Sunderland's Director of Childrens Services, local Councillors, Our Deputy Mayor, John Rolfe from the British Council & two friends from a school in Finland. An article on the opening is attached as a Word document below.

Two power-points were on show throughout the event:

  • Congratulations from our friends in Cieszyn, Poland. A selection of slides have been put into the pdf file From Polish friends (bottom of page). The display below is in the school library.
  • Our international work from 1994 to 2009.

John Rolfe from the British Council met our friends

from Finland, Erkki & Annina, & presented our

                                                                                                       school with an ISA banner.

A special painting was created by a community artist to celebrate the international dimension in our school & this hangs in our reception area. Pupils throughout the school contributed by producing drawings & paintings, which were then used by the artist in her final creation.
